I got a Magic 8 Ball for my birthday this year. It’s not the old heavy resin one, but a newer plastic design. Production was outsourced to China in the late 1980s. They were first produced in the USA starting in the 1950s. While a Magic 8 Ball is not a crystal ball, it does have 20 possible answers that come up randomly. Do you have an original one? It might be worth something.

Mia Johnson-Martinez has used a crystal ball motif to put the emphasis on Cartober! So far this fiscal year (which ends on September 30th), To date, KWMR has received 49 vehicle donations this fiscal year raising close to $49K! We have a goal of getting 10 new car donations in October to kick off another great fiscal year.

We conducted a test of our on air and Emergency Text messages on Saturday at 4 PM. Did you get our text? If not, sign up HERE to get them in the future. Alert Marin did their test at 10 AM. If you did not get that you can sign up HERE. Over 400 people in West Marin have signed up already for KWMR Alerts. I received an Alert Marin notification about coastal flooding on SF Bay on Monday. 

Unfortunately, the folks at Alert Marin don’t have a crystal ball to predict what might happen during this upcoming Super El Nino. If what we are seeing in Hawaii and on the East coast are any indication, we may be in for some wet months this winter. Daniel Swain will be presenting on Wednesday, September 30 on this topic presented by The Marin County Council of Mayors & Councilmembers. 

I don’t need a crystal ball or a Magic 8 Ball to know that there is a lot going this coming weekend. In addition to the 25th Annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, there are many things happening closer to West Marin. I cannot fit all of the amazing things into this newsletter, but we have done on-air promotion for the following events..
