Round Up: ”Can you put us over?”

“Can you put us over?”

⚡ April 28, 2026 ⚡

We are on day 10 of our Annual On-Air Pledge Drive! I would have to say that it is going pretty well. Many folks came out to our first two Open Houses during “Happy Hour,” and there is one more this Friday, May 1 from 5 – 7 PM. So much fun. The phones were ringing, long-time listeners came out to see the station, and we set up the KWMbaR in the Village Snipper, renamed the Village Sipper!

Magilicutty (renamed Magic Levity) will be hosting this Friday and Neil Dickman will be closing out our live part of the Pledge Drive with “Bring It On Home,” and I hope we will be doing just that!

As of the mailing of this newsletter, KWMR is at $101,359.00 raised. Many of you have contributed, and for that we are grateful, we would not be where we are without all of YOU! Let’s go with the statistic that about 2000 people open and at least glance at this newsletter. If just each of 1500 people gave $32.50 each we would make our goal. That is pretty doable, some folks will give more, some will give less, some won’t give. That is just how it is. Many hands make for light work!

KWMR lost federal funding last July to the tune of 25% of our budget. It was a blow, and you all stepped up. But that 25% was every year, not just once. Public media is adjusting to a new reality. Even though NPR settled their lawsuit with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), CPB still closed down. And the big donation to the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) will send no money our way. It’s up to all of us to make it happen.

I am confident that KWMR will not just survive, but thrive. By the sheer number of new programmers wanting a show, to your smiling faces at community events, the sauce is special and we are all the ingredients.

Please join us at KWMR Day this coming Saturday from noon to 4 PM. We will have something for everyone. Face painting, DJ sets, Arann Harris kicking it off at noon, massages, yummy food, the KWMbaR, and a “No Talent Show” at 3 pm emceed by Stephen Horvat. You might get discovered! Thanks for all your support. Donate NOW to keep local radio alive and kicking butt in West Marin and beyond.
