An Ode To “Cartober”

An ode to KWMR’s “Cartober”

The air is crisp and the moon is bright
Your old car’s engine goes creak in the night
It’s headlights don’t cut through the fog
And you know this time it won’t pass smog
It’s frame sways spookily too and fro
And a voice whispers softly, “let it go”
So you call the number or you click the link
And for the very last time those rusty keys clink
The donation swift, and the tax slip yours
A tow truck pulls away and the thunder roars
As your vehicle flies off to a worthy cause
Ghostly exhaust floats away with creeping claws
And suddenly a signal shines clear and stark –
A radio signal in the cold night’s dark!
The crackling voices warm your home
And music streams over rocks and stone.
As the end of “Cartober” finally draws near,
You sleep soundly, supporting something you hold dear.
