Round Up: “It’s Happening!”

When I have to complete a task that I only do annually, I sometimes forget how to do it. I understand the basic concept, but it is the step by step procedures where I start scratching my head. And something that happens only once a year seems like it’s a long way away forever, until it is here.

When KWMR decided to go to one pledge drive per year last year, we were pretty excited. Pledge Drives are a lot of work. And now it is happening – our once a year big Pledge Drive starts on Saturday April 19th and will end on Friday, May 2nd (KWMR Day).

Thankfully we all have enough Pledge Drives under our belts to make it happen, and the planning started months ago. Just think, your contribution for this drive to help us reach our $100,000 goal will allow for so much more uninterrupted programming throughout the year. 

Now is a super time to show all the new and amazing programmers how much you appreciate their thoughtful, amazing, and entertaining shows! And there are a lot of new shows since last year. So many talented folks have come forward! And for some of these folks this is their first rodeo of a KWMR Pledge Drive.

The website will go live on Saturday the 19th, but if you want to jump the gun and make your donation early, please just click HERE and be sure to let us know the show(s) that you want to support and we will make that happen! 

I really like the idea of having a party at the end of each of our annual Pledge Drives. Why not? Parties are fun! This one is going to be a hoot. This party is Friday, May 2nd. Is it on your calendar yet?

It’s an event at the Dance Palace that is family friendly, will be from 5pm – 10pm and there will be food and drink, including tacos, oysters, appetizers, ice cream cones and cookies (comfort foods!). There will be music and dancing and a raffle, and screen printing KWMR logos on whatever you bring (t-shirt, tea towel, toga). 

There will be activities for kids including a fun song and storytime with Kimmie Nicole at 5 PM.

So as we head into the two weeks before KWMR Day, be sure to tune in to some of the shows. Give us a jingle when we are answering the phones, swing by the radio station and say hello. 

Hopefully you haven’t forgotten how to support your local homegrown raised and fed radio station after all this time!
